Token White Boys formed in June 1986 when Dave Blackburn, Mark Abbott, and Michael Breen decided they wanted to play reggae. The first name the band used was "Ganja", but Dave came up with the TWB tag at the groups second gig (Aug 2 1986), and the group stayed with that name for over three years. They recorded a four-track demo and a release called Wage Peace. The band performed under the name Origin between October and December 1987, reforming as TWB in early 1988. The group's repetoire included songs by Bob Marley and the Wailers, Peter Tosh, the English Beat, the Police, the Talking Heads, and many other groups. The band composed and performed over 50 original songs over three years time, and performed many all-original sets.
