Modern Zoo formed in 1990 from former members of Token White Boys and Origin. The band performed over 60 gigs over the next two years, including many show on the U.C. San Diego campus. The band released quite a few recordings. Little Blond was released in late 1990, and Live 1990 was taped direct off the soundboard at the Bacchanal on Nov 15 1990. Uncaged, which was a compilation of the Token White Boy release Wage Peace and Little Blond, was released in 1991. The band released Flashback Cadillac in April1992, and by then many of the members had moved away. Jon Cohen joined up with the group Hayze in Los Angeles. Tim Dierauf moved to Oakland and performs with Night of the Iguana. Mike Schuttloffel joined the San Diego group Sharkskin, and has since moved back east. Jason Moen moved to San Francisco, traveled Germany playing in the streets for money, and is now somewhere in Central America. Rusty Orvik is a Nuclear Engineer for the U.S. Navy, and is now in South Carolina. Josh Miller now lives in Colorado, and has performed in a couple MKB Music songs, including Hate Runs Deep and Piece of My Heart, both by the Brother-In-Law Band. Chester Abbott is still in town; we just jammed together an hour ago! Chris Stillwell is in town, playing bass with the Grayboy All-Stars, a fantastic retro-70s funk groove band. Richard Kim was studying law here in town at USD last I heard, but he should have graduated by now. Brady Esch went to Alaska, but I've seen him back here in the last few years. Mike Stanton lives in Barcelona, although he also visits occasionally. You certainly can't say this band doesn't get around!
