Julian Mountain Blues Festival Saturday June 16th 2001!
David Jones: Guitar & Vocals

David & Suzanne Jones started Roadhouse Blues Band because they wanted to
play the kind of blues they love - the classic blues of Muddy Waters, Freddie
King, Junior Wells and BB King. Suzanne started the Julian Blues Festival as an
open air blues jam session but it quickly mushroomed into an all day festival
with over 400 people attending in the 1st year.
David Jones played in blues bands in Northern Califronia in the 60s and 70s, his
bands opening up for such acts as Eric Burdon & the Animals. He dropped out
of music professionally to raise a family and start his violin restoration business,
David N. Jones Violins. Three years ago he returned to the professional music
world starting Roadhouse Blues Band with his wife, Suzanne.
Suzanne Jones, the band's lead vocalist started out as a folk and gospel singer
but was easily drawn into blues after meeting David. She spent 30 years as
a classical pianist but she has now moved over to the Hamnmond B-3 and plays keys
for the band.
Susan Stevenson has been playing blues, pop rock, rhythm & blues and jazz all
over the globe for 15 years. She began her career in pubs, clubs and musical theatres
throughout England followed by Vancouver, Portland, San Francisco and finally
San Diego. Last year she made it to the "Big Apple" (NY) joining the band of an
off Broadway musical "Funky Fresh." She's a new resident to Julian and has recently
joined her friends, Roadhouse Blues Band as their bass player.
August Martinez started playing the drums at 13. His band, Zeppelin Balloon traveled
up and down the California coast in the 60s, headlining at Love-Ins and Dance
Happenings. They jammed whenever they could which led them to make friends and
jam regularly with Paul Butterfield. He's been a devoted and practicing blues
man ever since. After a 10 year hiatus, August is happy to sit behind his vintage
Camco set and play with Roadhouse Blues Band.
