Boys Like Girls - self-titled

Boys Like Girls has a tough sound to them, but is mellowed out ever so slightly by the an audible melody line (opposed to screaming) and harmonies.

This punk pop album will initially attract a diverse crowd of listeners, from youth to young adults. However, it can probably be tolerated by parents as well (again, because of the actual melody line).

The lyrics are worth reading on their own. They convey situations and emotions in amazing depth. For example, in the song "Broken Man", the lyrics include: "I wanna swallow these pills to get to sleep so I don't have to make a bad impression. I need to start to be myself, 'cause I'm sick of everybody else... I wanna run, but only far enough to make you miss me."

This band has a similar vibe to Jimmy Eat World, so if you've ever listened to them, run over to Boys Like Girls immediately.
